Hey y’all, it’s Pinkie. Come ride along with me for a day in my life as a female flatbed truck driver — the early mornings, the prayer before I roll, the heavy tarps, and the real cost of keeping this truck moving. I put it all in this video, and I wanted to share it here with you too.
Praying Over the Load
Before I ever turn that key, I pray over the load. I pray for safety on the road, for steady hands, and for everybody else out here driving too. Securing freight is not just a job to me — it is a responsibility. I check my straps and chains, I walk around that trailer, and I make sure everything is tight and right before I roll. When I know the load is secure, I can breathe a little easier and focus on the miles ahead.
What $6 Diesel Does to a Week
Y’all, $6 diesel will humble you real quick. Every fill-up takes a bigger bite out of the week, and you feel it in everything — what you can put aside, what you can fix, and how hard you have to run just to stay ahead. I watch my numbers close, I plan my fuel stops, and I don’t waste miles. It is not easy, but I keep my head down, I keep working, and I trust that the work will keep coming.
Wrestling 100-Pound Tarps Alone
Now let me tell you about them tarps. A 100-pound tarp is no joke, especially when you are out there working alone as a woman. You climb, you pull, you fold, and you do it again until that load is covered right. It takes muscle, yes, but it also takes patience and a plan. I take my time, I work smart, and I don’t let anybody make me feel like I don’t belong on that flatbed. I earned my spot out here, one tarp at a time.
Faith Carries Me Through the Long Days
Some days are long, and some roads feel even longer. When I get tired, when the weather turns, or when the week is testing me, my faith is what carries me through. I remind myself why I started, I keep my heart steady, and I keep going one mile at a time. If you are watching this video and thinking about this life, know this: you can do hard things, and you don’t have to do them without faith.
If you missed it above, you can watch the full day-in-the-life video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m08Nt6rhnxI — I hope it encourages you, makes you laugh a little, and shows you the real work behind the wheel.
Thank y’all for riding with me, for supporting me, and for keeping it 100 with me. I will see you on the next load.
